Seasons greetings, everyone! Somehow Christmas is basically here, which means we’re knocking on 2025’s door.
Although I love the idea of a grand reflection of my 2024, I’m very much treading water in this week, this day, this moment. So instead of a retrospective, I’m sharing a list of the thoughts that have scuttled through my head this week as I plan, wrap, scurry, and stress. And eat cookies.
‘Twas the week before Christmas, and I couldn’t help but wonder:
We’re like, really tired, right?
Did you feel like you unlocked a new level of holiday frizzle-frazzledness when your child’s school sent home the Spirit Week flyer last weekend? Not only are we drowning in holiday logistics and maybe baking something and last-minute shopping, but now our kid needs to dress up like a holiday character on Wednesday. 😅
Do we even like baking?
Do we still like the holiday decorations, or is the clutter getting to us just a little bit? If that’s true, can I still be a Fun Mom?
…What if I never do Elf on the Shelf? What happens?
If we have somehow, miraculously, already started wrapping presents, are we in the running for the Nobel Peace Prize?1
Are we soaking it all in? Are we enjoying it enough? Are we *present*?
Do you have a fun, festive holiday cocktail to fuel you through the above-mentioned frizzle-frazzledness? (This is my favorite. Add bourbon.)
The soft glow of the Christmas tree full of collected ornaments holds some kind of magic, doesn’t it? Especially once your kids are tucked in bed, you have your special holiday cocktail, and you finally sit down for a few minutes (before getting back up to keep wrapping presents).
As the main creators of all this holiday magic, we are Santa, aren’t we? I thought I might feel jollier about it all. As is often my experience in motherhood, sometimes the jolliness comes when we look back on it. And that’s okay. ♡
Wishing everyone a cozy, safe, and enjoyable December. See you in the new year. 🥂

I very much come off like the kind of person who would have her presents all wrapped by now, but I am usually grumpily wrapping them ALL on Christmas Eve.
I'd had one 45-minute window last Monday before my partner got home from work. I was amazed that I got all their gifts wrapped in that timeframe. And that I didn't kill the kitten, who only wanted to shred the wrapping paper. =)
