Gosh I love this!! It speaks to me in so many levels too! Pls donโt be surprised if I take screenshots of my favorite lines from here. Iโd read it again and share my favorite parts! (not a creep, just really a passionate reader ๐คฃ)
This gives me idea to share my bucket list too and the crossing out of whatโs been done looks exciting for me! I think this would help me get reminded of my things-I-really-want-to-do and will motivate me to finally work on the list.
Iโm in love with this line โIt would be easy to take a break from writingโI could almost too quickly, rationalize removing it from my plate. What Iโm trying to do instead, though, is see this as a way to show up for myself.โ
This really hits home to me because I havenโt seen it that way. I love typing down every thought in my head as much as I can but I never thought that yes, itโs actually a way to show up for myself. Thanks for articulating that! It gives me much more motivation to continue writing and hone it!
And this lineโ โthe easiest thing to do as a mom is to disappearโinto your children, into the mental load, into the chores, into the impossible โbalanceโ of it all. In the absence of free time, Iโve learned how much I need space to be with my thoughts and to process my experiencesโ
I never thought Iโd lose so much free time when I become a mom. But this is my reality now, and most of the time I found myself longing for that break to have a space to ponder on my thoughts and write down the experience. Argh, thanks for showing up for yourself- it radiates even to a normal mom like me!
So beautiful, Courtney. I'm cheering you on for choosing to document this part of your life, despite the different challenges life brings. It's truly an inspiration to read โฅ๏ธ
Great article, Courtney. Itโs good to see you're making good progress on the summer bucket list ๐ following the same, I need to finish 8 hrs at work, and then I'm free for eight days; I'll head to the beach ๐ more rest was my lead on the bucket list ๐
Ok I not only loved this, but needed it it today. You've inspired me to stop f*cking around with my latest post, and just send it, and move on. Not everything needs to be a shining version of perfection. And I love your list. Add some fun sh*t in there for you too, though! Here's a tip: my kids love 'movie night', which is where I drag pillows and cushions onto the floor, switch on the Christmas lights above the fireplace that I have never taken down, close the curtains and let them choose a movie for the three of us. They get hot chocolate and marshmallows, and depending on the time of day, I join them, or have a glass of wine. Then we just relax, and it's a few less hours to spend rushing around.
I love this comment, this tip, and your publication! By your article titles alone it was an immediate subscription for me. Cannot wait to read more ๐ซถ๐ปโบ๏ธ

Thank you โบ๏ธโบ๏ธ

It is UNREAL how little free time we have as moms. I'm so glad my thoughts resonated with you and I'm so thankful that you shared your experiences. :)
