Welcome! It's always Thursday here.
Or, what The Thursday List is all about: a millennial mom chasing a cozier, more balanced life. Read on for what to expect along the way.
Hi! I’m Courtney. Welcome to
. Today’s post is an overview of what I write about, who this is for, and what to expect each week. 🙂 If you already subscribe (thank you!), some of this will sound familiar. I plan to pin this post so newcomers can easily figure out what this *gestures around wildly* is all about. What is The Thursday List?
The Thursday List explores home, motherhood, organization, and peace of mind. Here, I document my efforts to build a cozier, more balanced life, and I share the small shifts in perspective and habit that help me inch closer to that goal. Think personal essays featuring older sister energy, introspection, and a bit of whimsy.
As for Thursday, well, I have always loved Thursdays. Thursday is at once what was, but also what could be. It is relief, contemplation, and possibility. In the words of the greatest poet of my generation, Taylor Swift, Thursday is about “the hope of it all.”
On Thursdays, I reflect, revise, and take stock. I muse and plan. I write lists (and man, I love a good list). The Thursday List is a collection of these Thursday thoughts about the topics I love most. Here, through the lens of my very everyday experiences, I plan to capture this spirit of reflection, organization, and hope.
Who is The Thursday List for?
Overall, I explore and document this season of my life – most notably creating a home and being a mom, and all of the ordinary and meaningful things that come from that. The Thursday List is for moms, but also for homebodies and introspective types. It is for those craving more structure and organization, but not quite sure how to find it. It is for people looking for comfort and peace rather than endless to-do lists and overwhelm. (It’s me, hi. I’m looking for these things!)
What this is not
I have the unfortunate habit of constantly optimizing. I’m always looking to improve almost everything, infinitely. It’s exhausting. Here on Substack, I’m trying to take this inclination of mine and use it for good—to share shifts in habit or perspective I’m working on that I think are a net positive in my life.
I’m not coming at this from a place of “I have it all figured out” or “look at me, the expert, bestowing knowledge.” Honestly, I wish. My inner perfectionist would love to feel like an expert! But I’m very much just muddling through, trying to find a little more peace, a little more calm, a little more happiness, and sharing my process as I go.
What to expect
For those of you who like a plan (me), you can expect posts in the following categories:
A suggested habit shift and/or a practical “how-to”
A suggested perspective shift
On My Mind: a collection of bite-sized observations
Romanticizing The Ordinary: my favorite everyday, “boring” moments (because these are what make a life, after all)
I function best within structure, but I may break from it occasionally. As a fairly type-A person, I like to indulge in a whim when it finally presents itself, you know?
Thank you to those reading so far, and welcome to anyone new. In the vast, infinite scroll of the internet, I don’t take your attention for granted. ♡
Love this!! And also…” It is for people looking for comfort and peace rather than endless to-do lists and overwhelm. (It’s me, hi. I’m looking for these things!)”…same here! 😄
Thursdays are my favorite day of the week, so it’s no wonder I found my way here 🩷
