My favorite kitchen decor (š”)
I have to begin my first home decor entry by definitively stating that I am not an expert. Iām not an interior designer, and by no stretch is my home a perfectly curated masterpiece. I will say, though, that I am a home decor enthusiast. I very much find home to be an extension of self, and I enjoy the process of creating a space that is all at once beautiful, comfortable, and calming. A cozy little retreat, if you will.Ā
That being said, Iām also quite pragmatic, and Iāve realized over the almost four years weāve lived in this home that I gravitate toward decor that also serves a purpose. This has led to quite the collection of thrifted baskets (more on this in another entry) and additionally, lamps.Ā
I rarely use any of the ābig lightsā in the main areas of our home. I much prefer low, cozy lighting, and therefore have nestled lamps in nearly every corner of our home. I have them in all the usual spots: on my nightstand, side tables, console, and so on. But my favorite spot for a lamp is my kitchen counter.
Below are my top three reasons to add one to your kitchen, too.Ā
Charm. Anything small is automatically charming, and tiny lamps are so cute tucked back on your counter.Ā
Form and function. A lamp serves a purpose while also adding character. It can get dark under cabinets, and a lamp fixes that.Ā Ā
Ambiance. Soft lighting is so calming. I can speak from experience: a before-bed snack by lamplight in the kitchen is a solid way to end a weeknight.Ā
Here is the tiny lamp pictured above. And here is another cute one from Target for just $12.Ā
